Part II · Article 6

Our objectives

Nine commitments that define why MBANSA exists.

Part IV · Articles 8 – 32

Structure & executive

The General Assembly is the supreme organ. The Executive, elected by the G.A., runs day-to-day affairs. Term: 4 years, renewable.

Article 38

Elections & succession

Every office is earned through a transparent, list-based, secret-ballot process overseen by ELECOM.

Election process

  • Candidates must be duly registered members with a clean financial record, stable residence and no black file
  • Elections follow the list system — no vacant position, or ELECOM rejects the list
  • Held during summer holidays when all students are back home
  • Lists scrutinised by ELECOM before the vote
  • Election fee: 1,000 FCFA per candidate
  • Simple, direct and secret balloting; simple majority wins
  • Only duly registered members may vote

Key rules

  • Decisions by simple majority; controversial matters decided by the President
  • Sanctioning an executive member requires a 2/3 majority of the G.A.
  • The L.E.C. — 7 members appointed by the President, approved by the G.A. — is the judicial arm
  • Constitution amendments require 4 years of use and a 2/3 majority
Oath: "I swear to perform loyally, lawfully, humbly and morally…"
